Nidderdale's Grand Day Out

River View Pateley at Nidderdale in the City on April 22nd

"Nidderdale in the City" graced the quad at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds on 22nd April with a mini Nidderdale Show for urbanites. The sun shone down its blessing on the occasion, which featured the best of local arts, crafts, animal life and culture with a great pile of children's activities to boot.

Some of the most popular stalls were the local farm animals (patiently petted by many a small child), the wooden milking cow made by one of the AONB volunteers, and the plastic dry stone wall. The band played loud and strong to visitors on deck chairs whilst the more energetic amongst them quizzed stall holders about wild birds of prey, the eco-system of the moorland, metal work, mosaics and sculptures.

Almost 2000 people of all ages and backgrounds came to Nidderdale's first big city outing. The next event will be in central Leeds in 2018.
