Spring is the perfect time to visit RHS Garden Harlow Carr, when borders burst into colour and woodland paths come alive.This is a favourite with retirees and couples looking for an unhurried day surrounded by nature. It has its very own Betty's Tea Shop looking out onto the gardens, which serves afternoon tea and a broad selection of cakes and treats baked on site. Sedate walks in Valley Gardens


Valley Gardens is a route down from Harlow Carr into the town of Harrogate itself. Valley Gardens is also a destination in its own right - 17 acres of parkland, woodland and floral displays. It's great for young families enjoying the play park, and visitors of all ages exploring the beautiful and varied paths with water features, sculptures and carefully tended displays. It hosts arts and crafts fairs throughout the year, and is a great spot to pick up local photography as well as hand made decorations for the home.

Harrogate, is a historic spa town with multiple layers of history to be discovered in every corner. Cobbled areas like the Montpellier shopping area sit side by side with Georgian architecture and the famous Turkish Baths and Winter Gardens. However, is far from a sedate pretty face. For many years it has been building a reputation for music, writing and performing arts with a schedule of festivals and events throughout the year.

  • Harrogate Spring Flower Show (23-26 April 2026): This event marks the beginning of the gardening season and is a highlight for local gardeners. It features show gardens, the Grand Floral Hall, and live theatres. Hosted at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre, the show also offers plant nurseries for those who wish to bring a piece of the event home. Early bird tickets, which often save £5, are available for this first major gardening event of the season.


  • The Sunday Series features morning coffee concerts from January to April, offering uplifting and inspiring spring performances by talented artists in the heart of Yorkshire.

    Since 1991, this annual event has been a staple in Harrogate’s classical music scene, featuring world-class musicians with a thoughtfully curated program designed to engage both seasoned and new audiences. The concerts take place at The Old Swan Hotel, providing a beautifully intimate setting to enjoy a morning coffee and exceptional music with friends.   • Fusion Art Fair (Spring): Conceived by Joann Chon, who envisioned creating a platform for artists to display their talents and make original contemporary art available to everyone. This fair takes place in Chester and Harrogate. It features a wide variety of contemporary artworks, ranging from affordable items to high-end masterpieces, ensuring there is something to suit every taste and budget.   • Harrogate Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert (2026): A key musical event held at the The Royal Hall, this is a always a firm favourite with audiences. It features at least three pieces by different composers set in the beautifully restored Edwardian building orginally designed by renowed theatre artist Frank Matcham as a "Kursaal" (cure hall).
