The holiday season has left us rested, sated and in need of some healthy living at River View holiday cottages. To celebrate the new year, we have been enjoying the Dales countryside, exploring hidden treasures in the local landscape. We are lucky that the North Yorkshire countryside looks spectacular whatever the season (and even luckier to enjoy several seasons in a day sometimes). Clear skies and low sun on winter branches turn to moody skies and spattering rain and back again on some days. Others see cold, clean frost and sparkling footpaths. All of it is beautiful in its own way.
This picture was taken on the river path as we set out from the cottages. After a period of over-indulgence and cosy days on the sofa, we all needed a bit of fresh air. Brisk walks in the fresh air were just the ticket to blow away the cobwebs. Winter can be a wonderful time to enjoy the dales. Pack up some sandwiches and a flask of hot tea and take a couple of hours outside. Not only does it make you feel healthier and happier, it also makes you enjoy that time back in the cosy warmth just that little bit more!
