'Painter of light' William Turner left a pictorial record of his visits to other areas close to the cottage like Fountains Abbey, Masham Marketplace, Hackfall Woods. It seems he missed on this view, from Wath Road towards Gouthwaite, which is a shame because it seems to be right up the great man's street.
